Obituary for Margery G. Chapman
Margery G. Chapman, 85, died Thursday at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. She was the wife of the late Kent Chapman.
Born in Minneapolis, MN, a daughter of the late Cyril and Margery (Lee) Davey, she has been a Providence resident for many years most recently living at the Tockwotton Home.
A registered nurse, she had worked for the Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket and The Visiting Nurses. She was an avid reader and active in many book clubs. She was very well informed about current events. For many years, she was active with the International House. She was a very good cook and loved to collect cook books.
She leaves 3 daughters: Robin Mooney and her husband Paul of West Warwick, Amy Gibbons and her husband John of Cumberland and Patricia Chapman., a son George Chapman and his wife Brenda of Santa Barbara, CA. , six grandchildren: Dawn Chapman, Jessica Van Gundy, James Chapman, Erin, Chelsea and Sean Gibbons and 2 great grandchildren: Cole Gibbons and Jeremiah Lubin.
The funeral will be held Monday at 10:30am in St Paul’s Church, 50 Park Place Pawtucket. Calling hours Sunday 4-6pm in the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home 230 Waterman St., Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Philip Hulitar Hospice center, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02906.
