Margaret Louise Mann Funkhouser, 100, passed away July 20, 2011 at Epoch on Blackstone Assisted Living, Providence, RI.Â
Margaret (Peg) was a graduate of Steele High School in Dayton, Ohio. She graduated from Oberlin Conservatory in 1933 and taught piano, organ and singing at Oberlin, Dayton, and Hanover, NH. In Dayton she was a member of the College Club and Grace Church for many years. In Hanover, she sang in the choir at the Church of Christ at Dartmouth College for 30 years. She recently received a citation for 75 years of membership in P.E.O.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Kirby, Gretchen Anderson (and her husband, Ted), and Deborah Perlman (and her husband, Elliot), four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband, Robert D. Funkhouser, Jr. former Comptroller of Dartmouth College, and two grandsons, Eric and Tim Ostebo.
A private graveside memorial service will take place in Hanover, NH. Donations in her memory may be made to the Music Fund at the Church of Christ at Dartmouth College, 40 College St. Hanover NH 03755.
