Obituary for Madelyn M. O'Connor

Madelyn M. (McOsker) O’Connor formerly of Rumford, died on August 23 at Saint Elizabeth Home in East Greenwich. She was the beloved wife of the late John F. O’Connor. She was born in Providence, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Creamer) McOsker.
Madelyn was a graduate of Classical High School and Bryant College. She worked for the Providence Journal, her husband businesses, and retired in 1998 from the University of Rhode Island where she was in the Human Resource Department. She was a long time communicant of St. Margaret’s church, past President of St. Margaret’s Women’s Club, and former member of Wannamoisett Country Club.
She was the beloved mother of; Jack (Paula), Brian, Marcia, and Kathleen O’Connor, grandmother of; Jason, Erin and Tara (Andrew), great grandmother of; Alex, Andrew Jr., and Gabriel, sister of Joseph McOsker Jr. and Journala Harrison. She was predeceased by her sister Carolyn Grenier.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home, 230 Waterman St., Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 in St. Margaret’s Church, 1098 Pawtucket Ave., Rumford. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Elizabeth Home, One St. Elizabeth Way, East Greenwich, RI 02818.
