Obituary for M. Eileen Riley
Riley, M. Eileen, 93 of Pawtucket, RI passed away on June 23, 2019. Eileen was born on July 31, 1925 in Westfield, MA, a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Riley. She graduated from Burrillville High School followed by time spent working in Washington, DC. Her longtime career for 39 years working for AT&T began in Pascoag and ended in Providence, where she lived for the last 54 years of her life.
She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Church and often donated her time to helping at the Rectory. Enjoying her early retirement, Eileen could often be found helping others, traveling with her sister, Veronica and cousins Rosemary and Madeline, trips to the casinos and spending much time as she could at the beach. But what gave her the most joy was being surrounded by her family and friends. Never to miss a party, Auntie attended every function imaginable for all her “kids”.
Eileen was preceded in death by her aunt, Loretta Dinagen, her uncle, Henry Riley and his wife Bessie, her sister, Veronica G. Grossi, her nephews, Richard Grossi and Vincent Grossi. She is survived by her four nieces; Kathleen (Gene) DiBari, Regina (Mark) Kana, Maureen (Leo) Laquerre, and Veronica Taft. She also leaves many great nieces, great nephews and grand nieces and nephews. In addition, she leaves her two cousins and their families, Rosemary Dandeneau and Madeline Bongiorni.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 28 at 11AM in the Chapel at the Jeanne Jugan Residence, 964 Main Street in Pawtucket. Calling hours at the Residence will be from Friday from 10-11AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 964 Main Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860.
