Obituary for Louis David Marisi

Louis David “Dave” Marisi, 61 of Johnston, RI, formally Cranston, died Tuesday, April 11th at Kent Hospital. He was the loving husband for 34 years to Deborah (Phillips) Marisi.

Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of Margaret (Grahn) Marisi and the late Louis Marisi. Son-in-Law of the late Peter and Barbara (Lea) Phillips.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Stephanie Marisi-Andrews and her husband David Andrews of Warwick, and Allison R. Marisi of Clermont, FL. Grandfather to Jaxton David Marisi of Clermont, FL. He also leaves behind two sisters, Debra Viau and Margaret Marisi of Cranston. Brother-in-Law to Peter Phillips of Saunderstown, RI and the late Joseph Viau. Uncle of Nicholas Viau and his wife, Nicole of Herndon, VA, Ryan and Benjamin Phillips of Saunderstown, RI. He also leaves two faithful companion dogs, Brady and Ellie Mae.

Dave was retired from the North Providence Fire Department, Communications Division and EMAC Transport where he served as Operations Supervisor. He was also a lieutenant for the North Providence Fire Department Call System, Station 2. Dave also worked for 40 years in the funeral industry where he owned and operated Knightsville Removal Service Associates. He was also the former owner of LDM Excavating.

Dave was the President of CLCF Development Soccer League in Cranston. He was involved with this league for 12 years and spent every Saturday making sure children of all ages learned and enjoyed the sport as much as he did.

Dave was a parishioner at St. Mary’s Church in Cranston, RI where he served as Church Sacristan for over 10 years. He was a member and past president of the Holy Name Society. He also volunteered as a CCD teacher. Dave was very passionate about his faith and participated in many church events, masses, and the traditions of the Madonna Della Civita.

He was also a member of the St. Mary’s Feast Society, where he was also a former member of the House Committee. For more than 25 years, he volunteered to hang the flags every July for the annual celebration of the Madonna Della Civitia Feast in Knightsville, while also hosting one of the biggest parties on Urbana Street. Everyone looked forward to his evening fireworks display that left the neighbors lining up Chester and Urbana Streets on St. Mary’s Day. He took pride in getting a standing ovation after months of planning out the best display. He always had to find way to top his previous displays every year.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday April 20th at 10am in St. Mary’s Church 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Wednesday April 19th from 4pm-7pm in the Urquhart Murphy Funeral home, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Mary's Feast Society, 15 Phenix Ave., Cranston, RI  02920..
