Obituary for Joy Petersmeyer Wolff
Joy Wolff, 89, died peacefully September 1, 2015 in her home at Laurelmead in Providence. Previously a resident of Little Compton, she had moved to Providence in 2010. Aptly named, she brought great joy to all who knew her. Upbeat, spirited, and always sporting that infectious smile, she will be greatly missed.
Joy Petersmeyer was born in Los Angeles and lived in and around San Francisco with her husband of 55 years, insurance executive George Wolff, Jr., who predeceased her in 2001. Joy was an avid tennis enthusiast, accomplished gardener, and talented seamstress, but her life-long passion was music. She was a member of the choir at the United Congregational Church in Little Compton, the Greater Tiverton Community Chorus, and the choir of the Central Congregational Church in Providence. At the time of her death she was a member of the Handicraft Club and the Hope Club, both in Providence. Survivors include her daughter, Anne Wolff Page, of Tiverton, a son, H. Ward Wolff, of Greenbrae,, CA, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, September 25th, at 11:00 AM, at the Central Congregational Church in Providence. The family requests that any memorial contributions be directed to WaterFire Providence, 101 Regent Avenue #12, Providence, RI 02909.
