Obituary for John F. W. Gilman
John F. W. Gilman, died Tuesday October 18th surrounded by his sisters Anne Giuliani and Helen Thompson and his brother Edward Gilman. He was a lifelong resident of Providence.
John was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island Horticultural Program. He later managed the Swan Point Cemetery Greenhouses and Grounds for more than 30 years.
John’s other interests included restoring antique automobiles, collecting Lionel trains and flower arranging.
A memorial service will be held Saturday October 29th at 2pm in the Historic Chapel of Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd. Providence followed by a brief gathering in the Gray Coale Reception Room. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
