John Andrew O’Neill, age 51, passed away unexpectedly on June 30, 2024, after a short illness,
in Santa Rosa, California. Andy is survived by the love of his life, his son, Alexander John, age
3, of Santa Rosa and his father, James L. O’Neill and his mother, Karen (Hebb) Piccolo as well
as his brothers, J. Patrick O’Neill, Jess M. O’Neill and Luke D. O’Neill. In addition, Andy leaves
Hannah; Grace; Jack; Conor and Daniel, his beloved nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind
other cherished relatives and friends, including a group of very close friends, made during the
memorable years when he resided in Newport, RI (his second home).
Andy graduated from Classical High School in Providence and from the University of Rhode
Island. Andy studied for a career in the financial services industry and attained success as an
account executive for various financial institutions. He received several accolades from his
employers.
Introduced to golf at a young age by his father, Andy became an avid and proficient golfer. Andy
introduced the golf bug to his son, and was quite proud of Alex’s love of and skill at
the game.
But the singular mark that Andy left in this world was, unquestionably, his exceptionally cheerful
personality and his sincere motivation to help his friends and relatives. Andy would always
brighten up a room as soon as he entered. People loved Andy as he loved them. In this respect,
Andy was a cut above many of us. May Andy’s example of an unselfish life be cherished and
followed by those left behind.
Due to Andy’s passing in California, funeral arrangements and a memorial service will be
announced at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Make-A-Wish foundation, 1702 E. Highland Ave., Suite 400
