Obituary for Joanna G. Brown
Joanna G Brown of East Providence passed away at home on August 11th 2020 at age 93.
Joanna was the wife of the late Judson E Brown. She is survived by her sister, Roberta Denner of Nashua NH; daughters Pamela and Deborah of East Providence; her nephews Peter, Paul, Robert and Russell Denner and their families.
Joanna was born in Providence in 1927. As a child she and her family lived in Quebec Canada for several years and briefly in Kentucky and New York before returning to Providence where she graduated from Hope High School.
Prior to her marriage, Joanna worked in the payroll department at Harvard University for several years and then Brown University after her marriage and before having children. When her children reached their teenage years she returned to work in accounts payable and accounts receivables departments at Washburn Wire and Royal Electric.
Joanna was a woman of faith. She was a member of Central Congregation Church for many years where she was a member of the choir and where she met her husband. At various times she was also a member of their social committee and a Sunday School teacher. In the early 1980's she became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and Later Day Saints. She was involved in many functions at the church, the longest being with their Genealogy library. When she was younger, she would go out of her way to provide rides to members who could not easily get to service on their own.
Joanna was a kind, patient and loving woman who was great at lending an ear to anyone that needed her to listen.
She will be very greatly missed.
