Obituary for Jeanne M. Birt
Providence; Birt, Jeanne M., 94, formerly of Morris Ave., died Wednesday at the Hope Hospice and Palliative Care in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert F. Birt.

A lifelong resident of Providence, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Grace (Gaule) McCurdy.

Jeanne was a longtime and faithful communicant of Holy Name Church in Providence. She was active on many of their committees and had been the secretary and librarian at the parish school.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Birt Pratt of Waltham, MA, James F. and his wife Jacquelyn of Windham, ME, Robert F. of Central Falls, Carol and her husband Darren Martin of Charlotte, NC, John F. and his wife Donna of Pawtucket, and her sister, Janet Farrington of Pawtucket. She also leaves her grandchildren Michael Pratt, Amy Hurley, James Birt Jr., Christine Herrera, Jeffrey Birt, Nicole Gagnon, John D. Birt, Haley Jeanne Birt, Jennifer Shirley and Kelley Spinney, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Joseph and Kathleen Birt and sister of the late Carol, Francis and Robert McCurdy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10am in the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, 99 Camp St. Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Calling hours Tuesday 4 to 8pm in the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home, 230 Waterman St., Providence. Donations in her memory may be made to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
