Jean (Lopez) Lynch, 76, of Johnston passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, November 11, 2022.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Germaine (Belhumeur) Lopez.
Jean is survived by her loving daughters, Renee Rinaldi -Patterson (Danny) and Gina Silvestro (Michael). Her cherished grandchildren Miranda Silvestro (Tyler), Madison Silvestro and Joseph Patterson, two great-grandchildren Jameson Nicholas and Kendall Jean. She was predeceased by her beloved grandson Nicholas Silvestro.
Family was everything to Jean. She was devoted to her parents. Her daughters and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a friend to all. The legacy of her kind spirit, love of cooking and entertaining and zest for life will live on through them.
Jean was a natural born artist, an accomplished dancer, avid sports fan, a self-employed businesswoman with a strong work ethic, and willingness to help others. She was a dedicated volunteer, a strong advocate and instrument of change for her hometown of Johnston.
During her many years of service, she was involved with numerous agencies such as the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Narragansett Bay Commission, the Wastewater Management Board for the Town of Johnston. She was a RI State Conservationist for the NRCS and held multiple roles within the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council for which she received a Lifetime Achievement Award in December 2017.
Jean was Chairwoman for the Northern Rhode Island Conservation District where she spearheaded the Pocasset River Flood project, resulting in a $70 million dollar flood plain restoration project which is the largest of its kind in the Northeast US.
As a final gesture of dedication to helping others, she donated her body to The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
