Obituary for James E. Mulleedy
James Edward Mulleedy, born September 22, 1953, son of the late Luke P. and Elizabeth (Smith) Mulleedy, died September 9, 2015. Jimmy embraced his life with irrepressible good humor and, until recently, was an active participant in vocational and social activities at the John E. Fogarty Center. He loved family gatherings, his Catholic faith, his Irish heritage, the Red Sox, the Kansas City Chiefs, Special Olympics, Best Buddies and the innumerable friends he made along life’s way. Our family is grateful to Dawn Fawcett and all the Fogarty staff members whose care enhanced Jimmy’s quality of life on a daily basis.
Special appreciation is extended to Berta Ramsey for her loving guidance over many years, and for sharing in so many road trips and casino adventures with him. We are also thankful to Sinead, Erica, Cheryl, Kim and the Buratti Road residential staff members whose respect and compassion as Jimmy’s health declined set a standard of exceptional care.
In addition to his parents, his earliest and best advocates, Jimmy was predeceased by his sister Muriel (Bob) Mulgrew, and his brother Luke P. Mulleedy, Jr. He is survived by his brother Bob (Rita) Mulleedy, Overland Park, KS; and sisters Maureen (Phil) Dahlmeyer, Northford, CT; Doris (Pete) Foley, Narragansett, RI; and Eileen (Stan) Delikat, League City, TX, as well as 13 nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved and will be well remembered by all of us who have special memories to keep of time spent in his good company.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in his name be made to The John E. Fogarty Center, 220 Woonasquatucket Avenue, North Providence, RI 02911.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, September 15 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Monahan, Drabble and Sherman Funeral Home preceding Mass at St. Raymond’s Church, 1240 N. Main St., Providence. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket, RI.
