Obituary for Inez A. Cote

Inez A Cote 89, of Narragansett passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center surrounded by loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Cote, Sr. and devoted mother of Robert (Charlotte) Cote, Jr., Diane (Vito) Travisano and Mary (Bernard) Carr and loving grandmother of Sean (Amanda) Cote, Christopher LaPrath and Kaitlyn Carr.

Inez was a devout Catholic. She attended daily mass with her closest friends. They enjoyed coffee hour at Belmont Market in Wakefield where everyone knew their names. Inez spent many hours praying the Rosary and offering these prayers for the sick and the suffering.

As a college educated nurse, Inez discovered her passion for public health nursing early in her career. Inez was also a faithful hospice nurse and cared deeply for all of her patients over her sixty plus years of working as a nurse.

Our mother and father had a great love for Block Island. They treated the three children along with extended family to yearly vacations resplendent with salt water, sand, salt water taffy, blue fish, fresh blueberries, sandcastles and body surfing. Years later, their son Robert and his wife Charlotte would include Mom and Dad in their tropical vacations. Mom also loved animals and doted over her grand dogs over the years.

Our Mother enthusiastically attended live performances involving her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She celebrated each success and accomplishment of her three grandchildren and her two great grandchildren. They held the keys to her heart.

Inez was an avid gardener with a special flair for her roses. She enjoyed sharing cut flowers from her garden. Inez took pleasure in attending the theatre, reading a great book, walking the beach at sunset and dining out with our Dad.

As a widower, Inez was grateful for the support of her friends and especially that of her dearest friend, Lee.

Our mother cherished all of God’s creatures and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the sea as well as the serenity gained at the water’s edge on a bright summer’s day.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday March 2nd in St. Thomas More Church, Narragansett at 11am with a reception to follow. Donations in her memory may be made to Hope Health Hulitar Hospice, 1085 North Main St., Providence, R.I. 02904.
