Obituary for Helen R. Langton
Helen R. Langton, 91, died Saturday at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. She was the wife of the late Frederick J. Langton.
A long time Providence resident, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa (Maguire) Lyman. She had lived in Cranston for 15 years and for the last 8 years at Steere House Nursing Home.
After raising a large and loving family, she worked as a waitress at the original LaRosa Restaurant in Johnston and then at the Fireside Restaurant in Warwick.
She was the loving mother of Margaret T. Hallock of Swansea, Rita Cotter of East Providence, Ellie Ware-Labossiere of Cranston, Mary Ann DeSousa of Riverside, Frederick J.Langton III of Attleboro Falls, MA, James Langton of Coventry, Diane Langton of Warwick and Maureen Cunningham of McKinney, Tx., 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Jeannette Jenkins, Rita Bologna, Abigail Walsh, James and Joseph Lyman and Robert McElroy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11am in St. Joseph Church, Hope St., Providence. Burial will be private. Calling hours Tuesday from 4-7pm in the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home, 230 Waterman St., Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Steere House Activity Fund, 100 Borden St., Providence, RI 02903 or to Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 North Main St., Providence RI 02904 .
