Helen M. McDermott, 91, of Narragansett daughter of the late John F. and Irma (Ring) McDermott passed away peacefully at home on Sunday surrounded by her loving family. She was a Narragansett resident for many years previously living in the Fox Point section of Providence.
She was a graduate of St Xavier’s Academy and worked as an administrative assistant for Thurston Manufacturing for many years until retiring.
She leaves a brother: Rev. Charles McDermott with whom she lived and a sister: Mary Leah Cunningham of Warwick. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews, whom she adored. She was the sister of the late: Chief (PFD) John F. “Mac” McDermott, Irma “Pat” Poirier and Raymond “Bo” McDermott.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at 10:30 am in St Joseph Church, Hope St., Providence. Call hours are respectfully omitted. Burial will be in Mt St Mary Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Narragansett Fire Fighters, 40 Caswell St., Narragansett, R.I. 02882.
