
Gabor (Gabe) Puski, 86, although he spent a majority of his life in Newburgh, IN, he passed away in Providence, RI under the loving care of his daughter Suzette and wife Edith on July 17, 2024. Born on January 2, 1938, in Budapest, Hungary, he was a devoted husband to Edith Puski and a loving father to Art, Suzette, and Rich.
Gabe became a refugee after World War II in the 1950’s and was relocated, with his brother Alex, to Toronto, Canada where he later met his future wife, Edith. Gabe attended the University of Toronto and received his Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry. He continued his education at the University of Massachusetts where he received his PhD in Research Chemistry.
He is survived by his wife Edith, his brothers István and Lázló, his children Art, Suzette, and Rich (Tonya), his grandchildren Richie (Athena), Nick, and Corey, and his great grandchildren Anna, Skyylar, Alistair, Amara, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
Gabe was hard-working and dedicated. His career, working as a Research Food Chemist, started in Los Angeles, CA but soon moved to the Chicago, IL area to work for Central Soya and Kraft Foods and then Mead Johnson Nutritional Company in Evansville, IN where he retired from. During his career he has earned numerous patents in soy and rice proteins. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passions.
Gabe’s passion has always been coaching youth soccer. He started coaching his son’s soccer team. Then later he coached numerous girls’ soccer teams in Evansville, IN.
Gabe deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored. He was a man of integrity, kindness, and had a great sense of humor. He has left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on July 29 at 10 am at Swan Point Cemetery. Any of his remote family, friends, and loved ones can watch the service using this link to access the recorded video;
