Obituary for Evelyn M. Healy
Evelyn M. (Farrell) Healy, 91, of Rumford, passed away peacefully on Friday July 6, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Devlin) Farrell. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert F. Healy. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was the beloved mother of Nancy Sheldon (husband Robert) of North Smithfield, Kate Kenney (William Mendence) of Riverside, and Robert Healy (wife Karen) of Westfield, MA. She also leaves four grandchildren, Matthew Kenney (wife Linda), Tracey Clark, Anna Healy and Leah Healy, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Paul Farrell, the late Gertrude Keegan, the late James Farrell and the late Claire Greene.
She was educated at St. Pius School and St. Francis Xavier Academy both in Providence. She worked for 9 years as executive assistant to the president of United Wire and Supply in Providence. After marrying and moving to Rumford she worked part time as secretary to the principle at St. Margaret School in Rumford where her children attended. She then worked part time as the administrator for Ryder Truck Rental for many years. She also worked as a volunteer at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA.
After high school Evelyn became the president and also a performing member of the Junior Veradames Musical Theater Group at Providence College where she met her beloved husband Bob. After marrying, she was actively involved in St. Margaret Parish in Rumford which she loved dearly, singing in the choir, working as a den mother for the cub scouts, and working part time in the rectory. During this time, she made many friendships that lasted throughout her entire life. She was an avid organist, artist and gardener and also enjoyed golfing with her friends. She lived a long and happy life, touching the hearts of so many people of all ages with her loving ways and perpetual smile. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Her Funeral will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 9:45AM from the Monahan, Drabble & Sherman Funeral Home, 230 Waterman Street, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Margaret Church, Rumford. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Evelyn’s memory may be made to St. Margaret Church 1098 Pawtucket Ave., Rumford, RI 02916.
