Ethel Mary (Fitzgerald) Walmsley 96, of Vista, CA and Wakefield, MA passed away peacefully at home on January 25, 2021. Mrs. Walmsley was born in Arlington, MA and spent her early years in Malden, MA. She was the daughter of the late John (Jack) Fitzgerald and Ethel (Johnson) Fitzgerald, sister of Marguerite Cullinan and the late Catherine (Louise) Fitzgerald.

Beloved wife of the late Albert E. Walmsley with whom she shared 60 years of loving marriage. They were longtime residents of Rumford where they raised their children and were active members of their community and St. Margaret’s Church. Cherished mother of Steven Walmsley and his wife Nancy of Vista, CA, Marguerite Ansaldi and her husband Nicholas of Wakefield, MA and the late Maura Walmsley of Rumford. Devoted grandmother of Amelia Birchell and her husband Mark, Gina Ansaldi and her partner Kendre Scott, David Walmsley and Melissa Ansaldi. Loving aunt of the late John (Jack) Cullinan, James Walmsley, Robert Walmsley, William Walmsley and Thomas Walmsley.

Ethel spent her final years living between Southern California and Massachusetts as well as travel to Cape Cod, Italy, Belize and Australia. She enjoyed expeditions with her sister along the New England coast in the never-ending search for the best lobster roll. In lieu of flowers her family asks that at five pm to pour a glass of your favorite beverage to toast in her memory then follow with one of her favorite meals – Maine lobster or anything Italian. In addition, donations can be made to the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry, PO Box 1624, Wakefield, MA 01880. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, services will be private.
