Obituary for Esther Kiely
Providence: Esther (Kerivan) Kiely died peacefully on Thursday Feb. 24th at Sakonnet Bay Manor in Tiverton after suffering from Alzheimer’s. Born in Newton, MA she was a longtime resident of Providence and Chatham, MA. A graduate of Newton High, she worked in the Registrar’s office at Brown University after marrying her late husband C. Edward Kiely, a student athlete at Brown. A former member of Eastward Ho C.C. in Chatham and the University Club she was an avid golfer and gardener who also enjoyed reading and painting. A former runner, she took pride in physical fitness and continued to enjoy daily walks through the East Side and on the beaches of Cape Cod. Her love of life and family was most evident in the joy and pride she took raising her four children and later spending time with her 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, two sisters and her beloved grandson Ross Kiely. She is survived by Neil Kiely (Laurie) of Bristol, Karen Bartlett (Phil) of Little Compton, Kathy Seifert of Alexandria, VA and Kim Kiely of Barnstable, MA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Saturday in St. Sebastian’s Church, 67 Cole Ave. Prov. where she was a daily communicant until her illness.
