As a child with Down Syndrome, Beth was one of the first mainstreamed in regular education in the 1950s. She attended Providence Public Schools and was graduated from Birch High School. She worked at Comstock Industries, AccessPoint, Cranston for 39 years. She loved dancing, music, bowling, swimming, and musical theater. She liked to be on the go anywhere- taking a ride down the street or traveling to NYC, DC, Florida, or Europe.
Beth was a Founder and Director of Person Centered, Inc, an advocacy movement which support developmentally disabled persons. She had been a member of Advocates in Action, Cranston Voices, and the Special Olympics.
Beth’s spirit of determination permeated her life evidenced by surviving breast cancer and vigilantly fighting Alzheimer’s disease. When people would look at her strangely, she proudly would tell them that she was born with Downs Syndrome, re-assuring them it was not contagious.
She is survived by her parent successors, Karen and Maureen Glynn; a brother, Samuel Moon; many cousins; and the ReFocus Community. The ReFocus Community, especially friends and staff at Eastside and 1228, gave her care and friendship during her final years, creating a new loving family for her. Much appreciation and gratitude to Hope Health Hospice, especially Beth’s hospice nurse, Jim. HopeHealth Hospice improved the quality of her life and supported her.
She was predeceased by her step-brother, Frank and his wife Luella.
