Obituary for Edward P. McCagney
Edward P. McCagney, 83, of Rumford died Wednesday surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in the Fox Point Section of Providence, he was a son of the late Andrew and Helen (King) McCagney, he was a Rumford resident for many years.
He was a truck driver for many years for Gulf Oil Company retiring in 1995. He had also driven for Getty Oil and American Oil. Prior to driving truck he was a toolmaker for Heustis Manufacturing and a machinist for Gorham Manufacturing.
He was an Army Combat Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Fox Point Boys & Girls Club and was in their Hall of Fame. An Avid golfer, he was a member of Silver Spring Golf Course.
He is survived by his son: William E. McCagney and his wife Paula of Warren, 2 granddaughters; Â Krista M. and Salina J. McCagney. 2 sisters: Eileen F. Wheeler of Barrington and Jean H. Perry of East Providence and two Brothers: Robert A McCagney of Rumford and William J. McCagney of Barrington.
The Funeral will be held Monday at 9am from the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home 230 Waterman St., Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial in St Joseph’s Church, Hope St. at 10am. Burial with military honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
