Obituary for Edward LaVelle
Providence;  LaVelle, Edward “J”, 77, died unexpectedly on Tuesday.  He was the life partner of Raffaello LaMantia for 53 years.
Born in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, a son of the late Vivian & Gertrude (Ivis) LaVelle, he has been a Providence resident for 13 years previously living in Chicago for 43 years. He was also a 35 year resident of Providencetown, MA.
He was a Vice President for Kennedy/ Ryan & Monigal, a real estate firm in Chicago for many years. He was the former head of the finance committee for St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Chicago and was on the Chicago Board of Realtors.
Besides his life partner he leaves a sister: Patricia Duffy and her husband James of Minneapolis, MN. 2 Brothers: Richard LaVelle and his wife Connie of Washington DC and James LaVelle and his wife Sheila of Gilmore City, Iowa, a Sister in Law: Helen LaVelle who was wife of his late brother John LaVelle. He was also brother of the late Terry Cranny and Janet Sweeney. He leaves many loving nieces and nephews including Michael LaVelle and Scott Seeley who we very close to him.  He also leaves the ever loving LaMantia Family: Yvonne & Nick Puleo, James and Susan LaMantia , Karen  Tomasiello-Stevan all of Chicago and Brother Michael LaMantia of New York City.
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 11am in St. Ann’s Church, Cranston St., Cranston. Burial will be Private. Calling hours Friday5-8pm in the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home 230 Waterman St., Providence. Flowers welcome as would donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105. Condolences may be left at monahandrabblesherman.com
