Obituary for Dorothy "Dottie" Nolan
Dorothy “Dottie” Nolan, 88, was reunited with her loving husband, Joseph Nolan, in heaven on March 12, 2020. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, she was the daughter of Elizabeth and Joseph Millette, and the sister of Rose Hooper, all predeceasing her. Dottie was surrounded by her daughters: Kathleen Sousa, wife of Robert Sousa, of Prudence Island, RI; Maureen Brooks, and Nancy Nolan, and her grandson, Joseph Brooks, all of Pawtucket, during her life and as she made her journey home. She is also survived by nieces and nephews who she loved.
She would best be remembered as being a loving and supportive mother and grandmother. Dottie was sassy and strong, and the company and love of her family was her only desire. She laughed easily and took joy in life’s simple offerings. Dottie would fondly recall the days when she and her best friend, Dolores Gomes, played baseball in the yard with Joe and he grew up with their companionship and love. Her cat, Shamus, was always at her side and watched over her until illness caused her to leave her home. Her time at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was marked with the exceptional care and compassion of nurses, CNAs, and others who treated Dottie and her family with the utmost respect and dignity.
At Dottie’s request, funeral arrangements are private. Donations in her name may be made to Angelcat Haven, PO Box 2261, Plainville, MA 02762, from which she adopted her feline companions.
