Obituary for Diane Stott Briggs
Diane Stott Briggs, 87 of Providence passed away peacefully August 5, 2016 surrounded by her loved ones. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Briggs Jr.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Vera (Wallace) Stott. She was a graduate of The Lincoln School in Providence, and Bucknell University in PA. Prior to her marriage to Charles, she worked as a stewardess for American Airlines.
Diane was a former member of the Women & Infants Auxiliary (Past President), the Dirt Gardeners Garden Club (Past Vice President), the Handicraft Club, The Lincoln School Alumnae Association, and the Rhode Island Country Club. She was also a member of Central Congregational Church for over 50 years, and a long time soprano in the church choir. An avid Red Sox fan, she was often found cheering on the team that she followed most of her life.
She is survived by her four children, Charles W. Briggs, III, of N. Babylon, NY, Geoffrey A.S. Briggs of Delray Beach, FL, Kimberly Briggs Berry of E. Greenwich, RI, and Jonathan T. Briggs of Manchester, CT; her daughter-in-law Barbara Briggs, and son-in-law Robinson S. Berry; her grandchildren, Charles Walter Briggs, IV, Katherine B. Greiner, Cameron L. Berry, and Chelsea C. Berry; and great grandson Beckett S. Greiner.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, September 17th at 11am in Central Congregational Church, 296 Angell Street, Providence to which relatives and friends are invited.
