Obituary for David Scott Royall
David Scott Royall, 65, of Lakeland, Fl, passed away Saturday at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Sherry Silverman Royall.
Born in Erie, PA, a son of the late Robert L. Royall Jr. & Dorothy Hull Royall Steiner. He was a resident of Lakeland for 3 years, previously living in Rumford, RI for 30 years.
David graduated from Harborcreek High School in Harborcreek, PA, obtained his BS in Economics from PA State University. He was in the USAF for five years during the Vietnam War. Along with his wife, they owned a bar, The Outpost, in Erie, PA.
David spent the bulk of his career at Retail Store Systems as a support manager (IT) and he retired from FM Global as a business analyst and project manager in 2015. His hobbies included golf, billiards, reading science fiction, comedy and beers with friends. David was a member of Temple-Beth-El and their Brotherhood of Providence, RI.
Besides his wife, David leaves a son, Robert Mitchell Royall of Raleigh, NC , a sister, Vicki Carlson and her husband Daniel, his brother Daniel Royall of Midlothian, VA., his in laws, Ira & Carla Silverman of Harrisburg, PA, sister in law Susan Miller and her husband Chris of Chelmsford, MA, and 2 nieces, Rebecca Miller of Medford, MA and Deborah Miller of Chelmsford, MA. He was the brother in law of the late Steven Silverman.
The family will greet friends and family at the Redwood Chapel in Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd, Providence Thursday at 9:30 with a funeral service starting at 11am. Burial will follow. Donations to Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, Fl or Ronald McDonald House, Providence, RI or charity of your choice.
