Obituary for Claire Lynch
Claire Hilda Girard was born in Findlay, Ohio on October 4, 1913, the daughter of Johnny and Alice Girard of Montreal, Canada.   Claire was married to William H. Lynch of New York, NY;   the couple raised four children and resided in Westchester, NY, later moving to Nevada.
Claire led a busy and active life.  In addition to raising her children,  and being active in church affairs,  Claire worked arranging  society weddings, as a medical receptionist, as a teacher in a school for the blind, and as admin. asst. for an active Chamber of Commerce.
Claire had many interests, but chief among these was her love of gardening.  Claire could grow about anything, and she did;  her gardens were the envy of the neighborhood.   Claire’s  awareness and deep appreciation for nature led her to see the smallest intricacies of every leaf and flower, and she would share this love with all who came around.
Akin to Claire’s love of nature, was her attunement to healthy eating and even to serious exercise, at a time in the 1950’s when these topics were certainly not items of discussion.  This too, she would share with all who knew her.  In this, and in many ways, Claire was a woman clearly ahead of her times.
Claire was lively and energetic and made friends easily.  But perhaps most notably, Claire would look for the beauty and good in every person she would meet.  Claire had actively resided most recently at the Grace Barker Nursing Home in Warren, RI, and passed to be in the arms of the angels on Oct. 31, 2014.
Claire was pre-deceased by her son William and grandson Richard Lynch.  She is presently survived by her beloved brother, Donald and nephew Gregory Girard, by her daughters Diane, Maureen and Kathleen, grandchildren Chelsea, Amber, Megan, Brendan and Richelle and great grandchildren Christopher and Jonathan.  Claire also has extended family in both Indiana and Ohio.  Claire and her brother Donald are part of The International Long Life Family Study, locally affiliated with Boston University.
By her request, Claire has been accepted as an Anatomical Gift Donor at the Brown University School of Medicine.  Services in her memory will be held at the Barrington Congregational Church on Sat. Nov. 8, 2014 at 2 pm, followed by calling hours from 4-6pm at the Monahan Drabble and Sherman Funeral Home on 230 Waterman St. in Providence. In lieu of donations, contributions can be made to Claire’s favorite charity: the Blind Center of Nevada. www.blindcenter.org.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 2pm in the Barrington Congregational Church, 461 County Road, Barrington
Visiting hours are on Saturday, November 8th from 4 to 6pm in the Monahan, Drabble & Sherman Funeral Home  230 Waterman Street, Providence
