Providence: Christine Ann “Tina” Demers, passed away on June 25, 2023. She was born on March 14, 1947 in Fall River, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Wilfred and Doris (Deleuze) Demers. Tina was a Providence resident for over 20 years, returning to the East Coast after working on the West Coast in high-level sales for Microsoft. Tina also worked at Burnes of Boston and Colonial Life and Accident where she established treasured lifelong friendships.
Tina was well-known to be a gourmet chef with a passion for travel and adventure. At the age of 67, she completed Camino de Santiago pilgrimage by walking hundreds of miles across Spain. A few years later, in 2016, she attended protests at Standing Rock and cooked for other activists.
Tina hosted over 80 Solstice parties spanning over 20 years, which was the celebration of women and friendship. She is remembered for her incredible light, freely shared among family and friends, and her infectious love.
She leaves her sisters: Holly Demers Sawyer of Warwick and LTC Nina R. Petrarca, USA, Ret. of Cape Coral Fl. and her brother LtCol Steven S. Demers, USMC, Ret. of New Bern, NC. Tina was the stepmother of Stacie Charbonneau Hess; Nichole Jane Charbonneau and Kellie Mulligan; loving Memere to nine grandchildren and amazing aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home, 210 Taunton Ave., East Providence on Saturday for visitation from 9 to 11:30 am followed by a funeral service in the Historic Chapel at Swan Point Cemetery in Providence at Noon. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Providence Animal Rescue League – parl.org.
