On the evening of December 27, 2022, Candace M. Agnello passed away peacefully at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center.
Candace treasured this image of her standing on a beach. The poem describes her character perfectly.
Life is but a journey
taken on a train,
with a pair of travelers
at each window pane,
I may sit beside you
the whole journey through,
or I may be seated elsewhere,
never knowing you.
But if fate should mark me
to sit by your side
Let’s be pleasant travelers
It’s so short a ride.

Candace was proud to be a Vietnam Era Veteran. She joined the Armed Forces right out of college after receiving a degree in Social Work. During her tour of duty in Germany, she created a Child Advocacy Program for active duty and civilian military personnel. As a result she received an Army Commendation Medal for meritorious achievement. Her greatest satisfaction came from advocating for children to improve their lives.
Throughout her life, Candace continued to give of herself to others selflessly in Social Work and her personal life. She asked to donate her remaining valuables to Armed Forces Veterans.
Last but not least she made a final donation to the Anatomical Gift Program at Brown University Medical School.
