Obituary for Beverly Lyon Clark
Beverly Lyon Clark, 72, died suddenly on March 18, 2021. She is loved by her husband, Roger, her son, Adam, her daughter, Wendy and her grandson, Matthew and many others. She’d been a Professor of English Literature at Wheaton College, Norton, MA, for 44 years, loved and respected by generations of faculty, students and staff. Bev was the author of 13 scholarly books and hundreds of articles, but her proudest achievements, and greatest loves, were her son, daughter and grandson. She also loved her sister, Nancy, and Nancy’s family. Bev married Rog in 1969, was graduated, Phi Beta Kappa, from Swarthmore College in 1970, served in the Fiji Islands as a Peace Corps Volunteer from 1971 to 1974, and received her Ph.D. in English Literature from Brown in 1979. Throughout her life, she plied cooking skills, learned from her mom, Norma, and other organizational skills, learned from her dad, Maurie during formative years in Lanesboro, MA. But, unlike them, she and Roger never let a cluttered house stand in the way of their happiness together. She will be missed be beyond measure.
