Obituary for Bernice N. Soldat
Bernice “Nicki” Soldat of Attleboro passed away peacefully at the Life Care Center of Attleboro on March 26, 2014.  She was the wife of the late Henry C. Soldat. She was the beloved sister of the late Ruth Zimmerman, Doris How, Robert Nichols, Beverly Bonner, and Doug Johnson. Nicki is survived by her loving children, Suzanne and Aug Kattermann, the Reverends Nancie and Carlos Mooney, Cynthia Soldat, and H. Victor and Sue Soldat. She had nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren.
Nicki was a woman of faith, and was a member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church of Norton in her younger years, active in the Whatsoever Club, the Couples Club, and the Choir. After moving to New York, she was active in her church and community, and upon her return to New England in 2000, she became a member of Lakewood Baptist Church in Warwick, RI, where her daughter Nancie was the Pastor. She also was a member of the First Baptist Church of Attleboro.
When she lived in Norton, she worked at the Norton Public Library, and for many years she  sang with the Norton Singers.  She was a talented artist and seamstress, and delighted in sewing stuffed toys for her grandchildren, quilts, and sharing her paintings. She taught art classes in several adult education programs.  Nicki made friends wherever she lived, and was grateful for the loving and supportive friends who cared for her at Life Care of Attleboro. She was generous and compassionate, and gave to a number of cancer research and children’s charities.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory my be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Lakewood Baptist Church, 255 Atlantic Ave, Warwick, RI 02888.
