Obituary for Barbara T. Girard
Barbara Trevor Girard, 95, of Newport, Rhode Island, died August 13, 2021, at Hope Hospice. Born in Providence to Alfred Girard and Grace (Trevor) Girard, she lived for many years in Newport where she was an avid supporter of the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Barbara attended Pembroke College and graduated from the University of Rhode Island, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa. She was also educated at the Sweeney Secretarial School, Irene Owen School of Ballet and Perry Music Studio. Barbara was a longtime member of the Redwood Library, Newport and RISD Art museums and the Edward King House. Barbara was a loyal fan of all Arts and was instrumental in bringing Gallery Nights to Rhode Island. She will be missed. Services will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport.
