Anne D. Murphy, 94, died January 31st at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care. She was the wife of the late William Murphy. A lifelong resident of Providence, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anne (Chaffee) Coen.
Anne worked for the former New England Telephone Co for over 30 years before retiring. She was an active member of the Holy Name Church in Providence and volunteered in the office there for many years. Anne enjoyed travelling to visit family and friends, who equally enjoyed spending time with her. Anne’s genuine warmth, wonderful sense of humor and gracious spirit touched all who knew her.
She leaves many loving nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Robert, Richard and Joseph Coen, Jane Woodall and Mary Kelaghan.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:30 from the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home 230 Waterman St., Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Holy Name Church, Camp St., Providence. Burial will follow in St Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Donations in her memory may be made to the Eliza B. Rogers Fund at Tockwotton on the Waterfront, 500 Waterfront Dr., East Providence, RI 02914.
