Obituary for Alexander Bradley Bodell
Alexander Bradley Bodell “Sandy”, 67, died Sunday at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by his wife and children.
Sandy was born in Providence to the late Stanley C. and Patricia C Bodell. He was a Providence resident for most of his life. Sandy was a Senior Vice President of IT for the Cooley Group, Inc., in Pawtucket RI, retiring last year so he could focus on his hunting, golf and tennis careers and spend time with his children and grandchild.
Sandy attended Moses Brown School and graduated from Kent School in Kent CT. After high school he attended the American School in Switzerland. He graduated with a BA and an MBA from Boston University where he was captain of the crew team.
Sandy was a long-time member of the Hope Club and Agawam Hunt where he got a hole in one last month.
Besides his wife, Elizabeth Siener Bodell, Sandy is survived by his five children: A. Bradley Bodell, Jr. of Sommerville, MA, Molly Bodell Cross of Boston, MA, Virginia H. Raho of Greene, RI, Nicholas C. Raho of Stonington CT, and Adelaide A Bodell of Hanover NH. He also leaves his four siblings: Stanley C. Bodell, Adelaide Bodell Milhaupt, Patricia Bodell Hopkins and James H. Bodell as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved granddaughter, Isabella A. Cross who loved her Pop.
The funeral will be held Thursday at St. Martin’s Church, 50 Orchard Ave., Providence at 3pm. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 7pm at the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home at 210 Taunton Ave., East Providence. Face masks are requested for the funeral home and church. Donations in his memory may be made to Amos House, 460 Pine St., Providence RI 02907, a cause that Sandy cared deeply about.
