Obituary for Albert Jules Pilon, Jr.
Albert  J. Pilon, Jr., 84 of Concord, Massachusetts peacefully passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015 at his home. He was the loving husband of Dr. A. Barbara Pilon who preceded him in death in 2000.
Albert was born in Providence, Rhode Island on April 14, 1930, the son of the late Albert and Effie (Martineau) Pilon. Mr. Pilon grew up in East Providence and was a graduate of East Providence High School. He served in the United States Army on two tours of duty, the second of which was at the beginning of the Korean War where his unit was among the first of the NATO Troops sent to Germany. He was honorably discharged from the Army with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Mr. Pilon was employed by Price Waterhouse as a CPA from 1955-1960. After leaving Price Waterhouse he became Controller of Arkwright Interlaken Co. in West Warwick. From there, he and his wife moved to Columbus, Indiana where he became Director of Finance for the Consumer Products Division of Arvin Industries and his wife obtained a PhD from Indiana University.
On returning to New England, Mr. Pilon joined Digital Equipment Corporation as Group Controller in 1971. Later he became a senior executive in manufacturing at Wang Laboratories. He left Wang and shortly thereafter retired.
Mr. Pilon performed home dialysis for his wife for 25 years. He always considered this responsibility as the one of which he was most proud. When his wife passed away, she was considered very unique for having survived end stage renal disease for such an extended period of time.
Albert is survived by his sister Joan (Pilon) and her husband Art Pintauro of Exeter, Rhode Island, and his very dear friends Judy Perry, Ivy Wetherell and Kate Wetherell. He was fortunate to have a devoted live in nurse, Poe Elizondo, who was a wonderful caretaker. Family and friends wish to also express gratitude to Caring Companion Home Care and its dedicated staff for their services.
A private service will be held at the St. Francis Cemetery Chapel in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on Friday March 20, 2015. Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.Â
