Obituary for Alan G. Tortolani
Alan G. Tortolani, born November 2, 1976 to Alan and Gail Tortolani in Burrillville, RI, Alan passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 15, 2017. He attended St. Raphael Academy in Pawtucket, RI and received a BA from the University of Rhode Island and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Rhode Island College. Throughout his time as a student, he was a varsity athlete and beloved by his peers and teachers. In 2004, he met and married the woman he called “the love of my life,” Lisa Schiano Tortolani. He is survived by his three beautiful, magical children: Susanna Angela, Antonio Gregory and Livia Beatrice.
Alan worked for several years as a teacher before starting his own online educational company specializing in children’s games. He was a generous benefactor in his community, donating countless hours in service. He loved running, mountain biking, electronics, cars, pizza (which he made in his own wood-fired oven), his home, and traveling the world.
But Alan’s biggest passion in life by far was his family. He is also survived by his parents, Alan and Gail Tortolani; his grandmother: Sophia, his parents-in-law: Emilio and Marie, sister Christina Tortolani; brothers-in-law Seth Schulman and Tony Schiano; sister-in-law Linda Schiano; nieces Giuliana, Sofia, Stella, and Michaela; nephews Emilio and Marco; and many close and cherished friends. He lived a rich, full, and happy life, and left this world wrapped in the warmth of his family and close friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11am in the Church of St. Sebastian, Cole Ave. Providence with visitation in the church beginning at 10am. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald house, 45 Gay St., Providence, R.I. 02906.
