Obituary for Priscilla Ballou
PRISCILLA WEST BALLOU, 86, died peacefully on Thursday November 9, 2017 surrounded by her family. The daughter of Thomas Henry West and Priscilla Mullin West, she was born in Providence and raised in Hopedale, MA and attended the Mary C. Wheeler School. Widow of
F. Remington Ballou, the two were happily married for forty four years until his death in 1998. Early on she worked in Boston as a secretarial assistant at The Architects’ Collaborative and Harvard Medical School. Priscilla was endlessly devoted to her husband and her family. She was an avid gardener and volunteered her time to several organizations and charitable causes including the Meeting Street School, the Junior League of Providence and the Providence Garden Club. She summered at her family’s home in Nonquitt, MA. Beloved by many, Priscilla touched the lives of people from all walks of life.
She is survived by her four children, Lisa Ballou Tyler of Providence RI, Cristy Ballou Brackett of Weston MA, Caroline Ballou Naumann of Medfield MA, and Sandy Ballou of Barrington RI and her thirteen grandchildren, Frederick, Thomas Dylan, Isabel, Georgia, Priscilla, Tod, Olivia, Nicolas, Wilson, Samuel, Charlie, Lucy and Henry. She will be missed, but the reunion with her husband will eclipse all.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 22nd at 11:00am at St. Martin’s Church in Providence.
